ISKME, an independent non-profit that helps educational institutions share information, contacted Busse Design when they had to redesign one of their vehicles for information sharing, the OER Commons website. We were presented with two challenges: To communicate the variety of information available to widely different audiences, from pre-K educators to college professors; and to complete this project on a shoe-string budget. Busse Design met these challenges by selecting a small set of key templates to design, from which ISKME could extrapolate the remaining pages. Through strategic use of photography and illustrated elements, we were able to develop a visual design style that communicated to the different audiences. Finally, Busse Design developed an icon set to represent the various conditions of use for each resource listed on the website.
